Nick Cannon, 30, is definitely not one to settle for anything less than the best! Though he continues to deny that his wife Mariah Carey, 40, is pregnant, when he does become a father, he has very high hopes for his kids. “I’m aiming high! I want like nuclear physicists and astronauts and heart surgeons or something like that,” Nick told HollyBaby.com exclusively on Oct. 20 as he was promoting the launch of DJ Hero 2 in NYC. “That’s what I want — my kids to invent something. I want my kids to be the first kids on Mars or something!”
Nick also told us that he doesn’t want his kids to follow in his and Mariah’s footsteps as musicians (sorry, Willow Smith — but your new career doesn’t impress former child star Nick). “I am aiming a little higher than that,” Nick said.
What he did tell us is that he can’t wait to be a dad. “I would love to be a father,” Nick confided. “That’s what family is all about at the end of the day.”
But he continues to keep mum about the pregnancy rumors regarding Mariah. “When you think about it, whether [you’re] celebrities or not, people usually keep that stuff close to them until they feel like it’s ready,” Nick explained. “There’s many different reasons to not go out and spread that type of news until a couple is ready. Sometimes you don’t want to have to deal with that. There’s certain things people just wanna keep sacred to themselves for as long as they possible can.”
He did say that he and Mariah have been spending a lot of time praying. “The family that prays together stays together,” Nick said. “More than anything, that’s the most important part. It’s not about praying for something; it’s praying for grace, mercy and favor. Just being thankful for being alive!”
No matter what Nick is (or isn’t) saying, we have proof that Mariah is expecting. HollyBaby.com exclusively learned that for the past month, Mariah has been working with designer Linda Stokes on creating her very own maternity wear!
