Mariah Leaves No Doubt She’s THAT Chick
October 16, 2009 4 CommentsI have returned from Vegas, where Mariah wowed the crowd at The Pearl Theater. It kicked off with DJ Suss One spinning tunes. The drama I endured to make it to Vegas as well as the wait once I got to The Pearl was well worth it.
DJ Suss One spun hot throwbacks, including Michael Jackson that kept the crowd happy and upbeat. My experience was also “enriched” by a very enthusiastic,tone deaf,slightly drunk MC fan. She was well aware she was tone deaf and didn’t care, she loved herself some MC as she put it.
Let me say her vocals were beyond phenomenal. I didn’t take photos during every song as I normally would have because security was kind of on it as far as photo taking, although MC knew she was being photographed by the fans and didn’t seem to mind. She even played up to it by getting into pose just before kicking off “It’s Like That”. She also joked about her mancurist abandoning her and her nails looking atrocious, since she was trying to be “edgy” and do a darker color but couldn’t wait for her to come back and put on a lighter color. Although she could if she wanted to fix it herself due to her beauty school hours.
She also acknowledged fans who had signs in the crowd that she saw. One in particular asked if she was going to Nick’s birthday party which was being held at The Bank inside The Bellagio. She laughed as said she guessed she would have to as he is her husband. She then told Nick she loved him very much, which prompted the crowd to all go aww and applaud. She then teased him saying “Aren’t you going to say you love me?” Nick of course replied, as the crowd joined in saying “You love her!”.
Some fans came as far, as Holland and Australia. Mariah thanked the Australian fans and told them she appreciating there coming although needn’t had to as she would be visiting there very soon. She also made one particular fans night all around as she helped them get engaged at her show.
During the show Nick sang along and thoroughly enjoyed seeing his wife perform. It was too cute to see him singing along to Mariah’s background singers and band as they performed along with her dancers to Make It Happen while MC has a brief ensemble change. Mariah finished off the song strong leaving no question she was that chick then, now and always with a voice unlike any other female artist.
Following one of the songs MC commented she just had to bring up this guy who was such a good dancer and she didn’t even know who he was. Which the “dancer” was in fact husband Nick who she then serenaded him Happy Birthday. Her vocals blew Nick away as he took a step back as she belted it out. As he quickly exited the stage following her serenade, she jokingly says “You see what I deal with, what I have to put up with. He didn’t even tell you what a festive time we had.”
One of my favorite moments came during Heartbreaker which reenacted a bit of the video using the dancers as the friends pulling Mariah back from trying to go over to her “boyfriend” as he talks all romantically with another girl. Midway the number Mariah dons a sleeveless black leather vest and shades as if she’s about to renegade on the “boyfriend”. Very cute.
I took the opportunity during Mariah’s brief absence from the stage at one point to take a picture of B. Scott from LoveBScott.com. He is GORGEOUS in person as he is in photos and truly super nice and sweet. I could gush on more but I won’t,lol.
Mariah moved the crowd to almost near silence as she performed her hit My All and one of my huge personal favorites Close My Eyes. She did a smashing job performing Obsessed tricking the crowd intially by having the beginning intro to Vision Of Love play. Mariah wanted to perform It’s A Wrap but unfortunately the band didn’t know it yet,so she performed H.A.T.E.U, explaining that you’re still in love with the person but wished you could hate them. Mariah ended the show with a huge fan favorite, Hero. Even though this isn’t one of my favorite songs, hearing her perform it live moved me. Here are some of the pictures I took during the show.
