“Dank.” “Dank?” “Dank!” If you ask me what I remember most from the Nick Cannon performance, or what my favorite part was – this would be my answer: “Dank.” Even if I wasn’t as in love with myself as I am, who would not love hearing their own name repeated over and over, in a crowd of over 300, by Nick Cannon!?

I feel as if we are like BFFLs now; I talked to Nick (and the crowd) about my opinions on “no homo,” even told him how old I was when I lost my virginity (18 for those wondering), AND we hugged on stage!

The IUB (Illini Union Board), comprised of a variety of committees, is responsible for providing all sorts of programming to the students on this campus. Thus, when Nick Cannon happened to be traveling through the Midwest and had a few free days, the board jumped at the opportunity of bringing a rare, albeit random, act to the Union.

The show started off a bit slow with two openers: Kennith Thompson, a local, remarkable and very high-pitched singer, and Pastor Case, Nick’s very own funny man. The pace, and volume of the audience, picked up exponentially as soon as Cannon stepped on the stage, and rarely dropped back down.

Narcissism aside, I was very pleasantly surprised at both the turn out of the crowd (due to some legal issues, promotion for the event began only 36 hours prior), and the quality of the show. Nick Cannon may have fallen off the radar, or as he shamelessly joked, been overshadowed by Mariah Carey (his wife), but I would take the risk to call it a come back.
