Nick & Mariah’s nursery: A green environment for the twins
May 12, 2011 No CommentsNew dad Nick Cannon says he and his wife Mariah Carey are providing an eco-friendly environment for their newborn twins, Moroccan and Monroe. In the nursery, “We have the organic bedding and all that stuff. My wife had all the special lighting put in that doesn’t use a lot of energy, no fluorescents and a lot of natural light. We pay close attention to that,” said Cannon, who was nervous but excited about the impending birth 12 days before it happened on April 30, the couple’s third anniversary.
“My grandmother raised me and like 30 foster children so that was my parenting class. I know how to change a diaper. I’ve been changing diapers my whole life,” he said, but noted that fatherhood is “a journey like no other. I’ve never experienced anything like this.” On May 14, Cannon headlines a comedy special on Showtime, “Nick Cannon: Mr. Showbiz,” a vehicle for the standup act he’s been working at since he was a kid. “This is the first time people will get to hear me voice my opinion on everything from marriage to my Internet beefs, being married to one of the most famous people in the world, talking about life itself.”
Then on May 31, Cannon returns as the host of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” which he calls “the greatest summer job I’ve ever had in my life. The thing I enjoy the most about ‘America’s Got Talent’ is the energy. These young people are really excited about the opportunity. To be able to be a part of something that’s all about fun, high energy, and just that idea of reaching and accomplishing your dream, there’s nothing else like that on television,” he raved. “This is a show where you can just forget about the rest of the world.”
