Mariah Carey Shines at The BET Honors
January 15, 2012 10 CommentsHeld each year to pay tribute to a handful of iconic African-American figures, the 2012 BET Honors took place at the Warner Theater in Washington, DC (Saturday, January 14th)
Mariah Carey who looked stunning in a nude black beaded dress arrived with healthy looking hubby Nick Cannon. Also in attendance Willow Smith, Randy Jackson, Jill Scott and many more.
Hosted by Gabrielle Union, the BET Honors saw First Lady Michelle Obama take the stage in a lovely red gown.
The six honorees, included Mariah, renowned poet/author Dr. Maya Angelou, Legendary performer Stevie Wonder, filmmaker Spike Lee, heroic Tuskegee Airmen and award-winning track and field coach Beverly Kearney.
L.A. Reid gave praise to Mariah before Patti LaBelle left the diva in tears while performing her classic ballad “Hero.” Nick honored his wife with an emotional speech as he held their son Moroccan (his sister Monroe was backstage feeling camera shy). A grateful Mariah thanked everyone for their love and support as she accepted her award. Kelly Rowland joined Raekwon for a cover of MC’s ODB-assisted hit “Fantasy.”
With performances by Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Hudson, Common and appearances by Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard and Cicely Tyson, the BET Honors is set to air on Monday, February 13 at 9/8c on BET.

First of all, I'm so happy Nick was able to accompany Mariah to the show, along with "dembabies." Mariah looks simply gorgeous and so excited. Nick is looking handsome as well. All I see is pure joy and love when I see these two together. Every site I've been on to look at the pictures, you can see them glowing. All you other celebrity couples–please take notes, lol. Everyone else in the pictures also look good; however, no one beats Roc in his adorable tux. Too cute. I can't wait to see the show in February and hear Mariah's speech as well as her tribute. Again, I'm glad Nick is feeling better and congratulations to Mariah.
One more comment. Our First Lady is looking absolutely gorgeous in that red gown!!!
I was at the show last night and I must say everybody “stepped out”! I mean everybody was sharp as hell! Nick and Mariah were looking really good! The show ran about an 45 to an hour later than scheduled due to some re-taping and security was tight,as expected! Plus DC is freezing right now! I may try to send some pics! Production was very strict on that inside while taping but I have a few from outside before and after! And from some of the pics I have seen since last night, they make Terrence Howard look fat but dude is very fit!
Were you inside or outside? Also, if were inside how did the crowd respond when Nick came out with Roc and gave his tribute to his wife?
The main after-party was at The Portrait Gallery a few blocks away where a lot of the celebs and honorees were in attendance!

The audience was cool when lil Roc came out! I think most ppl remembered he is STILL somewhat of an infant(they are barely 9 months lol)so they still are easily startled! But lil Roc was sharp like daddy tho! LOL! Man I’m so happy for Nick and Mariah! If you were there to see N&M’s faces! Pics can’t describe! And I would rather her get the BET HONORS over the regular Bet Award ANYDAY!
